What Exactly Should I Be Spring Cleaning?
Spring cleaning is a global tradition that is practiced typically by people who live in colder climates. Being stuck inside your home all winter can cause disorganization and dust build-up. Outdoor factors such as the heavy snow we experienced this year can also have an effect on the cleanliness of your home. Tracked in rock salt, dirt and moisture can damage your floors and carpets. Here are five house cleaning tasks you should be focused on while spring cleaning.
Get organized: Spring cleaning starts with organization. By straightening up around the house you will be reducing clutter and opening areas of your home. An orginized home is also much easier to clean.
Dust Removal: During the winter dust build up in homes is at its worst because of less ventilation in your home. While spring cleaning you should arm yourself with an extended duster to remove dust from every nook and cranny. To remove dust from your upholstery, bring your cushions and pillows outside and lightly beat them. Then use a suction type vacuum attachment to remove any excess particles.
Carpet Cleaning: Moister and dirt from the snow during the winter usually are tracked inside from our feet. We recommend spending extra time vacuuming high traffic areas and entrance mats to ensure all the debris from winter gets cleaned up. Getting your carpets steam cleaned or shampooed is also a great way to brighten the inside of your home and keep your carpets clean and maintained.
Floor Cleaning: You may not notice your floors losing color because it happens gradually. We recommend washing all your floors with a microfiber mop. Microfiber is reusable and more efficient than your average mop and will remove dirt and dust you cannot see.
Window Cleaning: Longer days mean more sunlight. There is no better way to let in the extra sunlight then having your windows cleaned. Over time windows degrade because of man-made and environmental factors. When windows degrade they lose clarity and become brittle making them more susceptible to breaking.
